A Rancher’s Reward Since God is the Great Creator Of all the beauties I’ve seen and heard When He promises that eternity waits for me Well…I’ll take Him at His word I don’t need to live in no mansion Alt: Verse: I don’t need to live in a mansion Where the streets are lined with gold Just a dusty old trail within heaven A peaceful valley for my abode God can give me this quiet corner With plenty of work still to do Creatures to care for and pastures to tend Alt. Verse 1: (Name the type of livestock) to care for and pastures to tend Alt. Verse 2: (Name the type of livestock) to work and pastures to tend As my spirit, His strength renews I’m made for hard work, it’s just who I am And in eternity, I’ll choose it all again God can give me some land of my own And I’ll ranch that range for Him I’ve no need for the wings of angels My horse and pickup will do just fine My dogs who’ve passed running beside me The things God counted; that He reserved as mine And I’ll build a beautiful homestead Quite like the one I had to leave here It will remind me of you and of this land that I love The things I’ve held most treasured and dear And my joy will be full amidst this beauty Among the gentle creatures He’s made Yet my joy will overflow when you’re with me again We’ll share eternity beyond the grave So when you arrive in heaven Don’t look for me where angels fly I won’t be in those pearly clouds Or touching the azure sky Look for me in emerald pastures Among the creatures I’ve always know Alt. Verse: Among the (name the type of livestock) I’ve always known For a rancher’s reward is my destiny A heavenly range that God has called my own Copyright © 2012 Poems And Reflections LLC.
