A Soldier's Honor Our lives are built upon a framework The framework of privilege and freedom Purchased through the blood, sweat and tears Of our soldiers, these brave men and women Possessing resolute spirits Valuing liberty before their own lives Sacredly and solemnly committing To preserving the rights due mankind Leaving the comfort and safety of home Entrusted with a high and noble purpose Blessing people throughout this earth With peace’s hopeful assurance Loving freedom and understanding its power Being a symbol of that hope in the world Accepting the possibility that fate may require Their ultimate sacrifice to move freedom forward _ And whether a soldier is spared to see his efforts Bless others throughout a lifetime fully lived Or whether he’s taken, amidst his service, back to God Still having more in him to give When an honorable soldier leaves this earth He takes his place in Heaven Having earned this mighty reward Through the selfless service he’s given For a soldier’s honor doesn’t end with his death… HONOR Becomes his eternal legacy An inheritance left family and mankind Of the blessings of freedom and peace Copyright © 2012 Poems And Reflections LLC.
